Everhart Foundation Fundraiser (Gretchen Everhart)
The first part of the word fundraiser is FUN! Did we have fun Thursday afternoon, October 3rd at the Everhart Excellence Foundation event in support of the Gretchen Everhart School in Tallahassee, Florida. What a truly worthy cause!
We arrived at the Ketcham Realty offices on Thomasville Road about 3:00PM with our equipment trailer in tow to find a perfect stage (12 x 24) had been set up by the Leon High School music department. The Ketcham Realty staff, the Foundation members and the Florida State student volunteer organization: “Hands for Hope,” were all there helping out in every aspect. Set up is usually a breeze when you have a little extra time. On this particular day someone had cranked the thermostat up and the heat must have been close to 100 degrees. So, the extra time was completely offset by moving really slow in the heat.
When the event started the dignitaries arrived like Jackie Pons the Leon County School Superintendent. But, most importantly, we got to meet famous Gene Deckerhoff, “The Voice of the Seminoles,” and his lovely wife and son.
Kent Hutchinson sat in first for the first set and brought that conga sound to our rhythm section. Frank Becton was there sporting his new gouty which by the way looked great!
Fried Grouper and Shrimp were prepared by Allen Poppell of All Occasions Catering and man was it good!
Many thanks to Pat, Clay and Brett Ketcham for hosting this great event and of course the Foundation Board members for sponsoring and organizing the event.
Did I say the music was exceptional?!
